Sight - Cushion Cover
The Lady and the Unicorn consist of 6 tapestries considered to be one of the greatest works of art in the Middle Ages in France, thought to be woven in the late 15th century.
The tapestries are thought to be depicting the six senses – taste, hearing, sight, smell, touch, and a mon seul desir (“to my only desire”) Each tapestry has a noble lady with the unicorn and some include a monkey or a lion in the scene. The pennants as well as the armor of the Unicorn and Lion in the tapestry bears the arms of the sponsor – Jean Le Viste, a powerful nobleman in the court of King Charles VII.
